In Goma, the “House of Hope” takes shape, where vocational training and work become tools of empowerment for 30 vulnerable women, thanks to the contribution of Hind’s sub-holding.
A concrete gesture of social responsibility that turns into a future within reach: with the project The Future in Hand, HModa (Holding Moda) – a subsidiary of Hind (Holding Industriale), an investment company in small and medium-sized enterprises representing manufacturing excellence – supports the creation of the “House of Hope,” a training tailoring workshop in Goma, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The initiative, carried out in collaboration with Caritas Children and GRAM (Groupe d’Accompagnement des Malades), aims to strengthen the socio-economic autonomy of disadvantaged women in a sustainable way, offering them opportunities of growth through vocational training and work. Thanks to HModa’s contribution, the “House of Hope” will benefit from qualified trainers, new machinery and materials for the workshop, as well as renovated facilities. In particular, each participant will be provided with a professional start-up kit, including a personal sewing machine, enabling them to launch an independent activity at the end of the training programme.
The project involves 30 direct beneficiaries and around 180 indirect beneficiaries, including the families of the participants, who will benefit from their new skills and increased job opportunities. The aim is to train new groups every year and generate a lasting impact in the outskirts of Goma: the “House of Hope” will thus be able to expand its courses to other craft areas – hairdressing, carpentry and welding – fostering new skills and local micro-enterprises.
An operational bridge between know-how and opportunity: The Future in Hand connects Italy’s manufacturing culture with a concrete training pathway on Congolese soil, transforming artisanal expertise into a driver of sustainable and inclusive development. Through dedicated spaces, equipment and instructors, the project creates a stable place for learning and work, where training becomes a tool of economic independence for the beneficiaries and their families. In line with the United Nations 2030 Agenda, The Future in Hand stands as a virtuous model of partnership between profit and non-profit sectors, in which business chooses to invest in social sustainability as a lever for creating shared value – for people, for communities and for the future of work.
Claudio Rovere, Founder and Chairman of Hind, commented:
“For HModa, supporting education means investing in the future of people and territories, as we have long been doing in Italy with Accademia HModa and its projects. With The Future in Hand we bring the same approach where it can generate immediate value: usable skills, tools to work with, and a workshop that remains. The ‘House of Hope’ is exactly that: a place where knowledge is passed on and becomes inclusion, enterprise and development for the local community.”
Michele Manfredi, Executive Director of Caritas Children, added:
“With companies like HModa we build pathways that combine social empowerment, responsibility, tangible impact and shared value. This alignment also comes from the very nature of the project: the fashion industry meeting a tailoring workshop in the DRC, where training and work become tools of empowerment. Transparency and reporting are an integral part of the partnership: data, stories and images make results visible and useful for communication with different stakeholders.”
“Children First” was made possible thanks to a partnership between Caritas Children ETS, Emintad Italy Srl and LCA Studio Legale, created to identify leading companies willing to support projects for disadvantaged children and young people. Emintad and LCA facilitate the matching between companies with ESG strategies and Caritas Children’s projects, which address social and environmental needs, within a shared legal framework that protects and enhances all parties involved.
