History and Profile

Lanificio Arca was founded in 1950 under the vision of Cino Cini, an entrepreneur from Prato who in the post-war period created textile solutions from carded wool that were atypical for the time. The uniqueness was in the textile workings that his own looms, located a few meters from the representative office, were able to achieve. In particular the four-color “Nebiolo shoenher 4×3,” which was and remains to this day a symbol of versatility within the Lanificio’s offerings.

In those days, fabrics were sold firsthand by Cino Cini in small boats that contained 25 meters of textile product. The offering at the time was intended for tailors or the first small prêt a porter businesses. The intent was to fill the briefcase with dreams, with the prospect of filling now-empty closets and rebuilding what had been lost during the war.

After more than 70 years, Marco Cini, heir to the Lanificio Arca legacy, keeps his grandfather’s identity strong by keeping in operation a weaving mill made of 8 Jacquard looms and a showroom.

The combination of the precious memories of the past along with the actualization of contemporary techniques allows for versatility in carded and worsted wool workmanship that is very close to the manufacturing process.
